Our mission is to foster whole humans who connect with others,
think about their thinking and who have confidence from broad experience.
Through serious play, learning, strategy and “thinking big then being real”,
we endeavor to create effective, reasonable and fun people.
Think Big...Be Real
Serious Play
Effective, Reasonable & Fun
These are the foundations of Fairmount steamHouse.
Welcome to steamHouse
steamHouse is a family cooperative STEAM club and mentoring curriculum development project. We emphasize the “every now technologies” of head, heart and body.
We do a variety of activities from robotics teams, animal interactions, games and potlucks. Our aim is to create community and experience.
Activities are also framed and support development of a mentoring club model emphasizing thinking, relating and fitness.
The most impactful lesson for any human is the understanding that we have an automatic mode of thinking that we use nearly all the time. Mostly it works but it is subject to biases and incomplete, faulty logic. By applying effort, our conscious thinking mode gives a more rigorous consideration with a greater context in mind.
In the stress and distraction of life, where resources and time are limited, we have an understandable bias toward first thoughts, the familiar and the actions we ultimately must take to have any effect. But that bias short circuits our brilliance as thinking and creating Homo sapiens. We have ability to consider our Purpose and Possibility with more novelty and potential effect, and that is our SuperPower.
Our mission is to foster whole humans who connect with others, think about their thinking and who have confidence from broad experience.
About Us
Hi, we are Romy Burnett’s family—Heidi Wicks (mom) and Brenton Burnett (dad), and furries Tula (dog), Rhubarb (cat), Jeremiah (mini-donkey), Mo and Sweet Pea (goats). And now, also Aurelia the Burmese python, and Jango (mini-donkey)!
Your household is invited to join us in a cooperative STEAM and social club.
We aim to create an ongoing community and series of experiences for kids and ourselves that includes potlucks, birthday celebrations, game nights, gourd gardening, up close experiences with animals and purposeful play and pretending.
