Researcher’s Brief
steamHouse: A Research Partnership Opportunity
steamHouse is a comprehensive, community-based youth development framework at a critical inflection point: substantial enough to warrant systematic study, early enough to integrate research methodology from the ground up.
Framework overview: Three-level consciousness model (automatic → conscious → purposeful) integrated with Purpose-Paradigm-Practice progression. Four foundational principles (Personal Agency, Mutual Respect, Objective Reason, Reflective Thinking) operationalized through 53 developmental markers across character, cognition, and capability domains.
The synthesis: The framework integrates domains typically studied separately—metacognition, identity formation, civic development, character education. Researchers in any one domain will find connection points; the framework doesn't reduce to any single tradition.
Current state: ~1,900 pages of curriculum. 53 developmental markers operationalized but not yet validated. Active community context (100+ families, eight years) available for research participation. Ready for formal evaluation.
What we're seeking: Validation, refinement, partnership. Researchers whose work aligns with universal (not deficit-based) approaches to learner development. Methodology consultation for pilot measurement. Potential collaboration on longitudinal outcomes research.
We've built something. We need help knowing if it works—and how to make it work better.
